What is the ICT?
The Idaho Centennial Trail (ICT) was conceived in the early 1980s as a backcountry route to connect Northern and Southern Idaho. Designated the official state trail of Idaho in 1990, the ICT traverses numerous public lands and historic trails of note: the Sawtooth, Frank Church and Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness Areas; the Selway and Middle Fork of the Salmon Wild and Scenic Rivers; and the Oregon Trail, the Lewis and Clark Trail and the Nez Perce Trail. From the Idaho-Nevada border to Priest Falls, the ICT is approximately 900+ miles long, and takes 2-3 months to complete. Challenges include extreme weather, treacherous stream crossings, bushwhacking, mountain ranges and diverse wildlife.
